I thought it was all in my head, I just want to believe that he wants me back, but it wasn't true. He has been so ugly to me, cussing me every time he gets mad, I believed he hated me and if we were Adam & Eve in the garden stark naked, we would look at each other and run away from the fruit... well, last month my car tore up and I had no one else to call except him, being the father of my children, he might have a shred of concern for their safety in a car. He came and he rescued me, almost gladly, like he wanted this chance to prove he was sweet at one time and make up for treating me so badly lately. Now he has been very friendly and even tried to kiss me, which I casually just turned the other way. I didn't want to acknowledge it, I didn't want to deal with what if. Now my head is full of ideas that he has changed and realized how much he loved his family life. Is there anything good that came of this incident? My thoughts are still very clouded right now.

Head games... I'd stay away from him. Some people, men and women are just that way. The need to prove something to themselves, at your expense.

You are really vulnerable right now. I would like more info about your split.. I am thinking he is just helping you to try and feel better about himself. Given that he tried to kiss you without really trying to help you out (by making several honest attempts at trying to right the wrongs...) tells me that he is seeing if you are available for an old time sake romp and essentially finding out what his boundaries with you are. It is a head game, like PF123 said. He most likely doesn't want to get together to work things out. Sorry that you are here under these circumstances...you are doing the right thing by focusing on your kids and job and by getting through this mess. My hugs and thoughts go out to you.

If there is no communication you will not know if he has changed. That is the key to any relationship to be able to talk things out and to have an open dialogue. Do not put youself or your kids in danger physically or emotionally. It's never worth it. Yes visit the other boards too.

Hate to be blunt but the attention you're getting probably means his current flame has dumped him and he's alone and doesn't like it.

He's likely using you as the back up plan and is using affection to manipulate you.

Don't give in to this. Stay strong.

If my ex were to come back and ask for a second chance then I would definitely try. My answer is easy because I'm still in love with her. I guess it depends on how long he treated you badly and how often. Everyone blows up every once in a while but if it was a regular thing then he should get some help or work on it. If you do want him back and he is willing to work on himself for you...then I guess that's a good reason to see if you can be together.

Thank you to all...

I am beginning to believe that he is truly understandig the consequences of his actions and is realizing what he had with me was the best thing any couple could ask for, and he threw it all away for what? an online soul mate that as hurting said, has now dumped him. I openly told him I did not want to string him along and give false hope to our children. He feels the same way concerning our children.

Am I a divorced coward now? Too afraid to take a chance to fall in love again?
