Okay, I am new to all of this. I just joined earlier today. Long story short, agreed to a quickee divorce from my hubby of 5 1/2 years which was finalized 09/25/2007. We were together for over 13 years. He went through a mid life crisis at age 40 that included drinking and staying out until the wee hours of the morning and that did not include me. I found out this weekend that he has a girlfriend. He has still been flirting with me occasionally, and we had been getting along realy well. We share a doggie daughter. I still love and miss him and told him so earlier in the week. Tonight he told me he was going to spend the evening with the puppy. I was working late so when I finished I called him to see how she was doing. He told me he was with her, and he planned to spend the night. She has lost a lot of weight and has been very needy lately so I called the neighbor and found out he was not there. I went to get her so she could at least go potty, and he had just arrived with the new girlfriend. We had a blowup over the lie about the dog. Now I am just devastated because he had promised me he would tell me when he met someone. Now she is in my bed on my sheets in my house... How can I get through this? BTW, I have a really nice man interested in me, but I cannot seem to get over the ex...

Don't be hard on yourself but if you chose to remain attached to your X in any way you are going to have to realise that you are going to have to let go at some point and live your own life.

mammy have you gotten any help? This does not sound like love to me it sounds like Love addiction and/or obsession. I suggest you get into therapy and read up on emotional and mental abuse and codependence. And I hate to be the barer of bad news but only a doormat would allow someone to control them like that. It's not a bad thing or even critical. A lot of us here have had to face that. You can choose yourself and get on a road to recovery or continue in this merry go round. Why would you want to choose someone that makes you count the tissue squares?? And the rules list for company??.... well I have to say I haven't heard that one before and I've heard a lot of stories. That's just crazy! Sorry but it is. And I assume you have a lot more stories than that... ewww *shiver* I can only imagine... Please try to take a look at why your still hanging on to this. You don't have to live like that, you deserve so much more. You really do. And it sounds like he's using that poor dog as a pawn to play games with you. You can't change or fix him and you can't make him love you the way you deserve or want to be loved. It doesn't sound like he's capable of authentic love. You can only change yourself. If nothing changes nothing changes.
