When I met my STBX 10 years ago he told me he had been married twice, to the two women he has children with. Soon after our separation I found out that in fact he had been married 3 times before. When I quizzed him about it he gave this lame excuse about how it wasn't love but a business deal and they had it annulled after 2 months. Well, did a little research online and found out they were married 5 years! So I went from being wife #3 to #4. Fast forward to a couple of hours ago and I have a lady who contacts me to say that she was also married to him. I am actually wife #5! I feel like such an idiot! I had no reason to question him in the beginning of the relationship....I mean why would anybody lie about how many wives!

It seems just when things are getting better I get hit with news that punches me in the gut again!

There are honestly no words! I unfortunately do not have any wisdom here that will make you feel better about this truly awful situation. Just sending you all the support I can. Hang in there!

Plenty of reasons to lie on how many marriages. I imagine the lying didn't stop there. Have to verify everything, it seems. He's probably still lying about this. At least you're away from him.

I"m just guessing that the wives must NOT have good things to say about him so he kept the number down, hoping you wouldn't find out. After his texts and the way he treated you, I would hope you feel lucky to be rid of him. You know the new girlfriend is in for a shock!!!!!!!
I would think this even more validates what a slime ball he is.

I found out I was wife #5 too !!! I was sooooo blind ! My ex was really smooth and I was really trusting. Bad combination.

I am so sorry you are going through this...Ouch this scares me, every time i read posts like these.

I dont feel safe trusting anyone ever again!.

I agree with the other posts he probably is trying to hide things.

They should put a statue of limitation on how many times a person like that is able to get married

Thank you all for your support! Shelby...I can't believe I am not the only one! What number did he originally tell you that you were?

Ironically he has already told me that he and his 34 year old mistress plan on getting married as soon as the divorce is final!

Charlie, you are right...there should be a limit. But amazingly if you talk to him, it's not his fault he has had 5 failed marriages, its all the wives fault. So ready for the divorce to be final and rid my life completely of him. Made the decision today to take back my maiden name.... I want as little reminders of him as possible!
