Breakups & Divorce Support Group
Just broke up with someone or in the midst of a difficult divorce? Breaking up is difficult no matter what the circumstances are. They say that time heals all wounds, but sometimes a listening ear or a hug can work wonders for the heart. Whether you need a place to vent, someone to hold you to No Contact, or need advice about what to do, we're here to help.
Okay, yes, it does sound like you "just don't understand it." But why should you?! You feel betrayed, because he betrayed you! You might be "the most important person in his life," but you haven't been and you will never be the ONLY person in his life.
There seems to be a disconnection about semantics and the labels to identify what has happened (e.g., "emotional affair" or "deep friendship and affection"), but the result is the same: He wants an open relationship, and you don't.
If he is okay with cheating, and that's what that was, then when it comes to the two of you...what's to stop him. This situation reminds me of this story.
A man climbed up a tall mountain, topped with the first snow of the year. The climb was hard and long but the young man completed his task. Then as
he rested on top of the mountain he heard a soft voice...help me it said.
The young man looked for the voice, and there he found a rattlesnake dying
in the snow. The snake pleaded with the young man to save him from the
cold, but the young man said "no mister snake, for if I pick you up you'll
bite me and I'll be the one that dies". No No said the snake I shall not
harm the one that is to save me. If I do, surely I shall die in this
cold. The young man gave this some thought and decided to help the snake,
so he picked up the snake put him in his shirt and started his long climb
down the mountain.
When they reached the valley below, the young man removed the snake from his shirt and placed it gently on the ground, then the snake struck and
bit the man. Why did you bite me pleaded the man?
The snake just looked at him and said, "You knew what I was when you
picked me up!"
My point is...don't pick up the snake then be shocked when he acts like a snake.
that deep down you wrestle with your own emotion vs truth-we have all. If
you thought that it was okay to go to dinner, that he is okay and deserves you
your own intuition would just let you go.You wanting to go is just a habitual
emotion that you are used to - we all know of this.I have a short story too-Candy isnt that good for you, neither is cake- but its tempting to most and you still want it- does not change the fact that it is empty calories.Focus on you.
