Breakups & Divorce Support Group
Just broke up with someone or in the midst of a difficult divorce? Breaking up is difficult no matter what the circumstances are. They say that time heals all wounds, but sometimes a listening ear or a hug can work wonders for the heart. Whether you need a place to vent, someone to hold you to No Contact, or need advice about what to do, we're here to help.
If however, you don't feel you can, there are other options (not attending and sending flowers, cards).
Good luck!
If you think it's going to be awkward for you, it will probably be 10 times more awkward for him. Not that I would play any cards at a funeral, but you know things I am sure she wants to know, that he may not want her to know. I'd look at it as just a little power you are bringing with you.
In June this year, my X and I alwaysh ave a joint bday party for our son because...well...why the heck not. Anyway, he has been seeing a girl for over a year now and asked me, back in April, if she could come. I said yes. One, I wanted to meet her face to face and two, I think it sends a silent message to my son that I know her and so he doesn't have to ever not tell me things or anything like that. My only demand (um, that's not the right word, but I can't tnink of a better one...wait, REQUEST) was that my X introduce me.
It went fine. Not weird. Of course, I had family and friends there, but it was a moment I had played over and over...what would I do, feel when I meet her for the first time?
And now?
It's a "first" I don't have to have again. We met, my son had a great party, and the only feeling I left with was feeling bad that she seems awesome and hitched her wagon to my X.
Remember, time and place. Like a kids' birthday party, a funeral isn't the time for craziness or drama, so I suspect they will be fine, and I know you will be A-OK. HE is going to feel the most awkward. ALWAYS carry yourself with dignity and grace, even if you're shaking in your boots.
You got this.
I'm sorry for the loss. I hope his family is doing ok and that you are taking it easy.
My exes parents divorced three months before my exes brother got married (ex-fil took off with the other woman, moved out of state no watning, packed up while she was at work). Omg, the wedding was a disaster, both ex-mil and ex-fil bickering, I felt so bad for ex-bil/sil. I guess no wedding is perfect huh...glad you handled it naturely, no issues w ex and gf...good job
