I've been divorced 7 months, ex moved out 5 months ago, I'm seeing someone, and I feel guilty because I want to get away from all the bullsh^^.

I had thought about Hawaii, it was a lot of money, I can afford it, but boyfriend brought me back to earth.

Just got this deal to Puerto Rico, 1/2 the price of Hawaii, and I don't care. It's some where where my best friend and I wanted to go.

Now, I have to explain to boyfriend.

Ideas?

If it is your money you should not have to explain it to anyone.

I wish my life was so complicated, lol!

i agree. especially with all you have been thru, it seems like your boyfriend would understand. its your money, your friend, your time. go for it.

I might still be coming from the perspective of a suspicious guy who's been burned, but why not take the boyfriend if he can afford to pay his own way? It could be some nice bonding time. Of course, if he can't pay his own way it's unreasonable of him to expect for you to pay it, and he needs to understand that. But I can say I'd be concerned if my gal wanted to run off to the islands without me too. I guess it all depends on how healthy your relationship is.

what do you have to explain? That you want to go on a vacation? and what do you mean brought you back down to Earth about Hawaii?

I will say, Hawaii is expensive, not getting there as much as being there.

To me, having a boyfriend or girlfriend shouldn't stop one from doing what they want to or change things. I kind of know your story, and truthfully, given where your relationship is with this guy, I would say, you should just have to tell him you are taking a vacation, no "approval" from him should be needed.

Hawaii got grounded because it was a lot of money, and I have 1,000 unfinished projects ex started and never finished, so my boyfriend and son are willing to work on them.

My boyfriend had to work OT the past few days, and decided to stop in last night around 9 for a drink. My son had a friend sleeping over, so figured it was a good time to bring it up. He looked over the details, said it looked good, and I explained that we probably would stay a few extra days after that to explore. He was fine with it.

Maybe he realizes I just need to get away.

Bob - He doesn't travel. He goes hunting, fishing at his Uncle's farm, that's the extent of his travels. When I was contemplating Hawaii, I did ask him to go - it was a resounding "NO"

He does have trust issues, but he's working through them, just as I am working though his wife calling off the divorce because she doesn't want to share custody.
