Breakups & Divorce Support Group
Just broke up with someone or in the midst of a difficult divorce? Breaking up is difficult no matter what the circumstances are. They say that time heals all wounds, but sometimes a listening ear or a hug can work wonders for the heart. Whether you need a place to vent, someone to hold you to No Contact, or need advice about what to do, we're here to help.
I feel like dads are even more particular about who their daughters spend time with when they’re an only child or if they are the only girl in a family of boys. A daughter has a special part in a dad’s heart, and he just wants to protect her. That’s what my dad always told me.
Your uncle may seem a little more “liberal” or “freeing” than your dad, but remember, he’s not your dad. He doesn’t have that same sense of protection even if he is a cop - there’s just something about a connection between a dad and a daughter that is unmatched with any other relationship.
Again, with your last relationship, I don’t think it’s important for blame to be placed. Was that relationship uplifting for you? Did you grow in it? You tried it and it did’t work out, and now perhaps that is why your dad has become so protective of you. He doesn’t want to see his daughter in pain. Dating can be a scary experience; I encourage you to seek a neutral, third opinion by finding a counselor anywhere in the United States here: https://ccn.thedirectorywidget.com/
