It would depend on the type of problems you have in the marriage. For example, physical and verbal abuse, drug/alcohol addiction, repeated affairs are situations that if left unresolved are definite reasons to divorce.
However, I believe every marriage has ups and downs. There is no perfect marriage. It may seem that way at the beginning of the relationship but eventually there is always something that we may not like about our partner and situations that present themselves.
In my marriage, my husband was having an affair. I tried to salvage our relationship with therapy. However, it takes two to make a marriage work. Obviously, he wasn't interested so I had no choice but to divorce him. The divorce has brought so much heartache. Our children have suffered; our families and friends have taken sides; our financial situation has suffered a tremendous blow, etc. I believe nothing positive has come from this, at least from my point of view. Not sure if this is good either, but I guess it works for them.
I don't regret my marriage or the effort I put in to save it, but I damn sure would rather be 31 starting over then if I had held on for ten more years. Life is just too short.
