After my divorce, I was asked to leave my church. They frown upon women filing for divorce.
It actually was good, I joined a new church that accepted me. Since I've joined, I've found many a few ex members from my church, plus I've met a few other that work with my family.
My family abondoned me during and after the divorce. My ex works for my family, as I did 12 yrs ago. I met my ex at work, and once I left work to take care of our children, things went downhill.
But, having this person who works for my family, see me in church, changed some opions.
I all of a sudden received an invitation to my great niece's birthday party, of which I haven't been invited since the divorce started.
I just wonder if it was this other woman from church who influenced what my family feels.
Any ideas?

does it matter if they influenced your family? is that going to determine whether or not you go? i am not sure why that matters - i guess its not clear to me from what you wrote. i just think you should take it for what it is and go to your great nieces party since an invitation was extended. perhaps they are changing, perhaps not. i'd look at it from your great nieces point of view - the invitation may not be extended again and this would be an opportunity to see her.
be the bigger person here - as hard as it is. rise above it. continue to do what you are doing. it sounds like you are trying to break away from some unhealthy relationships - try to focus on the good in this - your great niece. : )
