Well, today is 8 weeks from the breakup. I don't know if it feels like it's been longer or shorter than that, but it definitely feels like a weird amount of time for some reason.
Even though I'm still crying almost every day, and still thinking about everything pretty much every minute, I can see how things are a bit better now. That knee-jerk reaction to communicate my thoughts to him has started to fade. I'm starting to see and really accept the ways in which this is a positive thing. I still miss my ex and wish so much that things could have been different... but I'm at least ready to admit that I don't want the kind of relationship that he brings to the table. I'm willing to put in 110%, and if I'm with someone I want to feel like they're willing to put both feet in, as well.
It's been 32 days since I initiated any contact with my ex, and 15 days since I responded to a text message. I feel pretty good about that. I wouldn't have thought I was capable of it, that's for sure. I think this site has been a total savior. Thanks for being such great people.

Still hurts and is so confusing....but hurts less and interferes with my daily life less
They say 2 to 3 years to completely get there.......I am on my road too
and remember vividly my 8 week mark....and how much love and support I got on this forum
I remember too when I could tell you down to the day (almost down to the hour) how long it had been since my ex left me. I was pretty certain I would wake up every single day for the rest of my life and say "day #2385" since he left me! But guess what?? A year and half later (or is it closer to 2 years now) I don't remember the days or weeks...heck I really have to think about what month it was even in!
Keep moving forward...keep being strong!!
