Has anyone here had trouble when getting to know someone new after your breakup? Like you instantly compare the person or you seem to get clingy very fast? Or it seems like you're destined to be alone forever when ever things don't go your way? Could be I'm still not fully healed from my breakup?

I'm probably not the one to ask. I choose to focus on raising my kids and work rather than dating.

For a time, I really wondered "if I'd be alone forever", then I more or less decided that I was very happy alone. If I should find someone...great. If not great too.

Not sure if that's helpful, maybe someone else will have some other advice.

its often a sign you're not quite ready to move on, more healing is still needed. its not fair to you or your new potential partner. you don't want to repeat the same patterns either

I'm with Patti. It was difficult at first but now a few years later I'm content being single. Absolutely no rush to upset my freedom and peace of mind.

I think you're not ready to date if you're comparing potential partners and dates to your ex.
Also the rejection part never really goes away. After a bit it can get to anyone. I dated and dated and dated and the rejection is always challenging for sure.
You won't be alone forever. You'll meet someone and you will both click, you just need to give it time. Heal first.
