That is the question. My lawyer wants me to take the stbx to court, with the idea that he makes more money than he is letting on. He pockets his income, so we really have no idea what he makes. No books, no records.
Right now, I get $650 for child support for my two children. He offered me more, an increase of $100. Should I be grateful I get this much, or should I fight for more?
I told him I couldnt even pay rent with what gives for cs. He says he is not supposed to pay my rent and that if the kids need shelter, they can come live with him.
IF we prove he makes more, cs could increase tremendously. My lawyer says, if he is paying x amount in rent, he should be making x amount a month. If he is making x amount a month, cs should/could be as much as $1500 a month!
BUT...there is a price if I take him to court and try to prove this. His anger. He will be PISSED and could make things difficult.
So, do I take him to court or do I let him slide again?
What to do? Then again, I have heard more than once that this is now a business deal. I guess Im not very good at business if Im this afraid of his temper:)

I would take him back to court. He is not being fair to you or your children and seems that he is a selfish/greedy jerk that does not care if his children have what they need!

It's true, he's not supposed to be paying your rent. But he's supposed to contribute to the portion of your rent that is attributable to your children. So he's going to have to pay a large chunk of it.
First rule in negotiations: Never take the first offer.
Go to court. This is worth fighting over.
Yeah, its to court I go. I know I have to, but hearing you all say it makes me know for sure!
