The Court date was set for July 2 yesterday and I thought today was going to be harder than it is starting out to be.
3 years ago today I married a woman I thought I was going to spend the rest of my life with. I was nave enough to believe that all the anger and resentment she held onto from past relationships would not infect our marriage, but it did 1-1/2 years into it, and now here I am.
I am trying not to hold any bitterness and anger myself, because I know first hand how quickly it can destroy hopes and dreams without any real effort. It just needs to be there to fester and simmer, until something you think is trivial, sets it off.
Instead, I am praying for her daily. Praying she finds the courage and strength to give it all to God, and to forgive the people that have wronged her, knowing that until she does, there is no peace and happiness to be found.
I pray daily for the strength to allow me to forgive as well. Not just her, but myself. There is enough blame to go around and there are no victims here. We are just 2 broken people that, for a short time, found a once in a lifetime kind of love.
Our wedding day was the best day of my life to date and we had so many amazing times together when it was good, and I will never regret experiencing all of them with her. There will always be a place in my heart that is only hers and will hold the memories of the love we had. That is all that is worth holding onto.
So today I wish her a Happy Anniversary, a prayer for her to find forgiveness and the peace it provides and a hope that she finds the happiness and love that can only come from God when she has laid down those burdens.

About 1-1/2 years. Not completely healed by any means, but I have faith that it will happen.

wow, you are very sweet, I feel bad that she let that go. My wedding day was one of the happiest days of my life too. I hope one day I can remember that date with fond memories instead of broken, sad thoughts. Best wishes for continued healing!!!!

My first anniversary after my separation was 2 months. It was rough. The first anniversary after my divorce was just under a year. It hurt less then, and even now I feel sadness on my anniversary, but it is more of a sadness that things didn't work out and regret. I think as time goes on it gets easier. This past anniversary (2 years after the divorce) was easier than the first. You are at a very good place.
