Hey everyone. I am new. I never thought I would join a group like this, but I am looking for ways to help myself deal with the pain of divorce. So I am divorcing my husband of 12 years, but the most difficult part is that we have to live together until I graduate in May. Once I do graduate I will be moving across the country.It's a pretty cordial divorce, but for now, I am stuck here in this house that we built together, in this life that is so disjointed and crazy. Honestly we were friends before we got married so I thought this living together as friend wouldn't be as hard as it is. (so naive) But he has recently started online dating and skyping with other women while I am here in the house. We made some "rules" about it. That he would go somewhere private, use headphones, etc. But it still totally sucks for me. I can't even imagine trying to date right now. So I'm just feeling beat down about it. thoughts?

I tried living with my ex wife after she dumped me, that lasted 3 weeks. I would go somewhere else. 8 months?? No way.

He moved out In a big hissy fit because i did
not leave myself. He went to live with his mother

I’m sorry about your divorce. This situation must be really difficult for you. Is there no possibility of reconciliation? Since you’re under one roof, I think you just have to talk to your husband and ask him to be more considerate. Hugs to you!

There is no chance of reconciliation at this point. I want children, he doesn't and we aren't getting any younger. (and a lot more crap) But yeah I have tried the talking route with no avail. I am just struggling, my head knows that I'm leaving and things will get better. But my stupid heart just won't stop hurting.

was rejecting me Emotionally. He always was
heading in the Opposite direction on purpose.

Gosh Mirandac that sounds pretty similar. Thank you. Detaching is the hard part right?! I am spending a few nights a week at my friends house, and slowly detaching but that's the important piece. I am the one having problems detaching, he's not. I have to make that a priority.

Sorry to hear about your pain of divorce. This is a door that is hard to close but you can progress.Even though that is a permanent seek a support group to help walk you through this hard task.It will take time to heal but it can happen.You can hope again.

Detaching for me took 2 years of conscious effort. That was two and a half years ago. He had no response, life just went on as usual for him. We're still in the same house and the divorce is in progress as of this May. Those two years sucked, but I got through the worst of the emotional pain during that time. Rejection by someone who still claims to be a loving husband is the worst, especially when they play perfect guy to the rest of the world. It's something that CAN be done while still living with someone, but certainly not ideal.

Once the divorce proceedings started, then things got prickly and ugly because he finally had to face some consequences of his actions.

The online dating thing? Why? Tell him no, get out of the house for that. That's just rude. What if something progresses to sexting - you want to be in the house for that? Unless you're the only one benefiting from still living together, he should be able to keep it out of the house, especially if he still cares or considers you a "friend". Otherwise, it's adding salt to the wound.
