I get them on occasion, by the time I know I am having another bout with them I am in a fetal position on the floor, and unable to find a comfortable position to stay in.

Usually means a trip to the ER for some serious drugs, and them to tell me to drink more water than I can.

None of mine have been too large to pass on their own, but they sure hurt!!

if gallstones are like kidney stones my sister will agree....she has had bot babies and kidney stones and she said babies are a piece f cake comparatively....

I remember my Dad had them so bad when I was in high school, he took to sipping from a flask of brandy for the pain.

And I didn't have the kind of father that admitted to pain, so that made quite an impression about kidney stones.

((pemdcat)) Sorry about the stones, but did the MD's tell you the make up of them? Most are calcium based but some are obscure. The Doctors or Nurses can help you take things out of your diet that will help cause formation in the future. High salt intake is associated with calcium formation In the kidney. And diet can play a big part, lack of water in the diet.
There are many factors, and some can be helped with diet and an increase in water. Please ask your health care provider what you can do to help this situation, and have your city water tested if you have that, as that can be a cause due to increased chemicals in the water.

Kidney stones are extremely painful. I have seen so many people suffer with them, and it is not a good thing to see. I always feel so helpless as a Nurse. Take care, and hope that you are well soon.. Hugs, Kimmee

Oh thats awful! I dont get kidney stones i get kidney infections and the pain is worse then labor. kidney issues run in my family. Sorry you have to hurt. feel better soon!!

Kimmeee, They are calcium bases but the real kicker is that I take a large amount of diuretic for heart failure....keeps me dehydrated....and the water here is full of calcium.....can't win....Dr called me a gravel maker

Pem? My dad's doc just put him on a diuretic for his heart too... is this a side effect he could be in for?

Rj not necessarily....The kidney stone thing runs in my family plus the water in my area has high calcium levels....don't fret it...if he has had stones before it may increase the odds...I have had them off and on for over 30 years....just something I deal with ...still it is a pain.....
