His having an emotional affair and seeking your release must have felt awful. But even worse if he tried to have a mistress on the side - to have both of you.
1)don't accept his emotional affair bullshit, cheating is cheating being intimate in any way with someone is infidelity, it came be bumping uglies, melding minds, knotting hearts, all of it, any of it, is breaking the vows
2) his moving out of state may be hard on your kids but I hope it gives you some distance, it still cuts me to shreds anytime i see my wife, it opens all the sutures
3) keep being who you are - your kids need you and you need to accept that deep down you are a good person, do not let that bastard cloud yourself in your own eyes
It seems hard now, but it does get better, as the anger subsides, and life begins to fill with other, positive things.
I am five years post divorce and my x's affair, and his affair ended up being just what I needed to get move on and get on with my life. I am in a much better and healthier place now.
