First off I would like to wish all our Daily Strength Breakup's & Divorce support group members a "better" new year! Mind you, as you noticed I didn't say "Happy", nope, for I know that some of us, some parts of myself included can't really be all that "happy" about the events that are about to unfold tonight.
As I sit here, alone, my mind drifts back exactly 365 days ago, when on this night my ex-fiance and I were going about readying out New Years Dinner. There was love and excitement in the air, the meal was great, as usual, and there were plans to watch the ball drop in New York on TV, but that never happened. Real close to midnight we found ourselves in our old bedroom making love, so upon the strike of midnight we ushered in the year 2014 romantically.
Odd thing is, is that my ex-fiance while in progression muttered that we should do this every New Years, why not, I wasn't going to disagree! That statement of her's haunts me a little now. Here it is, 365 days later, on the eve of 2015 and where is she? She's back living with her parents back in Ohio. And me, I sit here alone inside my empty apartment wondering where the "we should do this every New Years" went.
I won't ramble on with a complete play by play history lesson here, I just know that 2014 has been a very hard and trying year for most of us. I have read that most people here have suffered what their going through at the hands of 2014. So with that being said, I wish everyone here, at what ever stage of a breakup your at, or are going through a very pleasant and safe New Years night. As we lift our champagne glasses tonight and give a toast, let's all toast that 2015 will be a "better" year!

safe new year to you.
It's been a hard day. My ex and I spent the last 4 of 5 NYEs together. This year I'm home at my parents' house for a couple more days, and I'm sure that he's out drinking with friends. I wish I could say I don't care whether or not he thinks of me, but I do. I'm sure I'll cross his mind, but he decided that the partnered life just isn't for him, so maybe there will be a sense of relief for him this year. Even though he chose this and broke my heart, I've still spent the whole day fighting the urge to text him.
Ugh. Good riddance, 2014. I hope next year is better.
