The Impact of Parenting

I never realized what a tremendous impact my father had on me and my six siblings until he pasted away and I could see and feel the grief it brought all of us. It was at that time I made a pact that I would treat my position of father as an honour, duty and responsibility

I only bring this up as I see my ex wife struggles to keep her head above water and has for the most part abdicated her responsible for some man on the hopes that he could make her happy....people can't make people happy only you can do that....from within. I truly pity her because as she grows weaker I have grown stronger on my own.....and the children see that....they want to be with me.

I hope/know my children see how much I love then and that every moment of everyday I think of them....I will honour the memory of my father and thank him for the skills and the unconditional love he gave me.

I totally agree with you TML67. Whenever my kids seem selfish or do something that hurts my feelings, I try to recall how self centered I was at their ages. It wasn't until I was married with children that I realized how much my parents sacrificed and did for me.

Misred, I agree and being respectful to folks here that don't have kids here...Becoming a parent was one of the most humbling experiences I have even gone through....I could not image my life without my children.

your children will/do see it. i know there are some people take the privledge of being a parent forgranted - you are not one of those people. your children gravitate towards you.

i am thankful that i got the opportunity to be a step parent and that my step daughter is still a part of my life, and that i am an auntie to a few friends children. its an honor, to say the least.
