For a moment, I was reading all of your posts and had forgotten my problem for the day!! The stbx idiotboys $500 check bounced! Mind you, he calls this child support, the seperation agrrement calls it paying me my portion of the house. Do I call him and say something, or do I just try to deposit the check again? I really really dont want to call him and fight with him. He will know the check bounced eventually and I think me NOT calling him when he does find out might make him think a little. ????????????

be smart, redeposit it on payday as soon as bank opens. he will find out it bounced, or, he already knew it would. what would be the point in calling him, save yourself the aggravation. remember on payday as soon as bank opens.

I agree with Churop. You can redeposit and as soon as his paycheck hits and he has had a chance to write anymore checks you can get your money.

Funny thing about "payday"...he is self employed so only gets what he makes on any certain day...could be $50.00, could be $1500. I AM still on the bank account for the business, though:) My mind is working!!!

I would go directly to the bank that it was drawn on and cash it there. Espcially if your name is on the account. If there aren't the funds they will let you know, plus you save the fee you have to pay when you deposit a bad check.

You might want to have him give you a cashier's check next time. What an ass!

I'd go to his bank and try to cash it. If there isn't enough money in the account ask how short it is, it might just be a couple of bucks short and you can make a deposit into his account and then cash the check.

Do you know on what day he get paid? Is it direct deposit? If so, wait until that day and go directly to his bank and cash it.

heck if you are on the account...log in on line and watch the balance until enough deposits post so you can cash it..and do just that CASH IT.

My stbx is also self employed. To avoid the Bounce, or Checks in the Mail, I have an account set up that we Both have access to.

He can transfer money Into that account, and I can draw the money Out of it, without our personal accounts being linked or seen by each other.

Smart, huh??? Thought that one up all by myself ;-)

I have learned to cash his check on the day his direct deposit goes in - even if i have to wait until the next payday.

He makes over 50K a year, has no rent (lives with his mommy) and still has problems with insuffucient funds. My son said he and dad went to big lots to buy wrappers and they rolled coins together.

Maybe he should lay off the gambling!?!

My x's check bounced, I went to his bank 9 times to try to cash it. Finally I went on a day that there was money. My attorney advised me to deposit in my account and then take him to small clains over it. My x is self employeed too. The check was for 325.00 and the one to my son was for 80.00. How pathetic is that that he bounces a 80.00 ck. to his son?
