I just had surgery for the second time. The last time it was for my right hip and this time it was for my left hip. My ex of 8 years together was with me all the way on the first one, along with my female Black Labrador Retriever. Full support, help and everything.
Prior to surgery this time, my ex (who I still talk to occasionally and still have things at her house),sincerely asked if there was anything she could do to help me. I gave it a LOT of thought and a LOT of thought of as to what to say. As it got closer to the surgery date, I spoke with her and she asked me again. I very cautiously told her that I know how things are with us now and that I know that we've been apart for 2 years now. I told her that since I live with my beautiful female Black Labrador Retriever and that the doctor told me that I needed someone to be with me post-surgery and could not be without a person to help me, that since she lives 5 minutes away from me and that since I have no capable relatives living in my city, that I would like to ask if it was POSSIBLE to stay with her. I stongly added that I was NOT looking to get back together and that I KNOW how things are with us now. I would NOT have been sleeping with her, nor would I have tried. I told her all this and after a pause she said okay; somewhat reluctantly. I told her that during surgery I was going to board my dog at her veterinarian and get her bathed too.
Then she asked where my female Black Labrador Retriever was going to stay! I told her that I was hoping that she could stay with her too.
She absolutely refused and was adamant about it. She told me that she sheds and that I never used the Ferminator (which I did, but it never stopped the sheeding entirely), that she knew that I would not start using it now and that she was one of the reasons we broke up!
Oh, but she has her long-haired Dachshund (who I like and my female Black Labrador Retriever likes)! Yes, I know it is her house!
So she visited me in the hospital and has called me, but did not invite us to stay with her.
Where my dog goes, I go! And where I go, my dog goes!
We are staying with my sister, who lives in another city. It is extremely comfortable, but it is very far from where we live and overall very inconvenient.

Sounds like that was a sore point for her. The things we find out about people that we could have done with knowing at the time, ay? I hope you're enjoying your time at your sister's. I'm sure she's glad to hang out with you and have you holiday with her. You can chew the fat and talk about old times. Nothing quite like going to stay with siblings.
I'm an extremely neat and organized person, super clean, but in my opinion my dogs are cleaner than most people lol
If she's got a long haired doxie it doesn't even make sense that she objects to hair from a lab, but like I said she sounds like a PITA.
You're better off not being anywhere near her tense negative energy.
Very unhealthy.
