Your parents, who both have done very visible things counter-productive to a successful marriage, may be feeling guilty about their actions, and as a result unsure of how to talk to you and your brother. Please remember that they are the adults, their adult actions are causing all of these family changes. It's their responsibility to check in with their kids, they should be asking you how you're doing. If they do ask, for your own sake, be honest with them. If you have to bring up the subject yourself, please do it. You can be frank and honest and kind and just say what you've written here. Keeping things bottled up only leads to more trouble for everyone down the road. Opening up the lines of communication can ease things for everyone. It's hard at first, but so important.
As far as your brother, just remember that boys generally have a harder time expressing their emotions. He may be feeling as much conflict and pain as you but maybe masks it more easily. Or maybe he just pushes it away (not good).
It's great that you're reaching out. I know your library has books on coping with divorced parents. If you haven't already, I suggest reading one or two.
Good luck to your and your family.
And it's OKAY to hate the divorce. It IS ripping the life that you've known apart.
What I can tell you...is that there IS life on the other side. Different...but overall just as good. Some things will be worse, some will be better. (Neither my ex nor I found new partners that we finally found "happiness" with. And that's fine too. As I said, life is different, but just as good.)
Are you on any immune suppressants for the ITP? If so, that could be adding significantly to how hard this is all hitting you...especially if you're on steroids. Have you joined any support groups for it? I found this online quickly...you might want to check it out.
