Maybe it’s the holidays-the first since the divorce started. I’m expecting it to be final at any moment and I dread it. No matter what I’ve been told (counseling and friends) it was a toxic marriage, I still miss him like crazy. I’m reading that divorce is much like withdrawal- he’s my addiction. I accept that I’m codependent and trying to work on that, but right now feel extremely down. I know that being down at times is natural and part of the process, but gosh- right now it’s so consuming me! The holidays will be so different. I want to have new traditions- but I have 3 teenage sons who could care less about traditions

I could have written almost exactly what you said. This is my 2nd Thanksgiving since my marriage broke up but last year I had a boyfriend. In my head, I know he isn't the right person because he has serious anger issues plus some narcissistic tendencies. My heart hasn't caught up. I realize he too is my addiction. I am embarrassed to say that I have tried to go no contact multiple times. Just made it up to 10 days and broke it again because I just can't stay away even though I am not getting any apologies or positive reinforcement when we actually do talk.

I have two teenage sons who have special needs and could honestly care less about Thanksgiving. They will be with their dad who is already engaged to marry someone else. Ouch! I know I don't want him back but it still stings.

I am here for you if you need a friend. You are certainly not alone and I have my fears about making it through Thanksgiving alone. Trying not to think about it too much but being honest, I am kind of freaked out. Hugs to you. We will survive this.

Thank you ifinallygetit! I helps so much to know that although it seems like it, I am not alone. I am sorry you’re experiencing the same thing. My oldest son is special needs as well! Maybe it’s just the companionship I’m missing, I just don’t know. My husband left in August and never looked back. I knew we weren’t perfect but had no clue it was coming to this! So I also feel blindsided and confused on top of the sadness. We’ve had no contact other than occasional texts about divorce papers. It baffles my mind that someone could leave and never look back.

That is how I am feeling right now. I am going through a divorce, just split three days ago and it hurts so damn bad. It seems like she’s not as torn, hurt or upset about it and that makes me feel even more hurt.

TreM is does hurt terribly! Someone walking away without another look works wonders on the self esteem!
