I'm 39 years old and was dating this guy for a year who I was head over heels for and he left me for a woman he met on Tik Tok. It's been a year. I'm still so incredibly heartbroken over this. I still manage to do life on a daily basis but deep down, I'm still so hurt. I creep on social media because I want so badly to see that relationship fail. And, I shouldn't be that kind of person. I wish I could stop checking the social media accounts but it's hard when it's only one click away. And it kills me to see what seems to be an amazing relationship. So why do I even look, it only makes me feel worse. I just wish I could find a way to get over it. I've read the books, talked to my therapist, listen to podcasts, exercise, travel, fostering a dog right now... all things to keep me occupied. I'm a busy and successful woman. But, being left for someone else has been the biggest blow to my ego and my heart. Anyone have some words of wisdom to share... maybe someone who has gone through something similar??

I'm horrified! I knew my insurance would go up due to getting a new car but I didn't expect it to go up over $2,000. I did have an accident with the snow/ice in the winter. I was just telling my brother that I have had my car since March 2, 2026 and have only spent $75 on an oil change. Now this! I called another insurance company and their quote was over $4,000. I guess I have to pay...

Best thing to do to get past this is to start talking to and date new guys. Go on dating apps, just look around, start conversations. Talk to some new guys online, or in person. Sometimes, we can't get past a broken up relationship because we put so much into it and maybe don't have other friends to go out with, or other people that we can hang out with anymore, because we put our All into that relationship. Have you been going out with your friends? Spending time with family? Do your best to go out and live your life, and the busier you are, the sooner you will not even think about him any more.
You are going to be okay! It hurts, yes, but just know what kind of person he really is, and he'll probably leave the TikTok girl too.... but you will be moving on and living your own happy life with a good man who won't do things like this to you!
Block him, don't look at his social media. Just block him, delete him, and from your life. He has no hold on you or your life anymore. You are a strong woman who doesn't need a crummy guy like this anywhere in your life.
Secondly - and the one thing that will help you over this.. stop romanticizing him. Look at him logically - you don't love him - how can you love a cheater? He lied to you, who really knows how many times, do you want him back?? NO, trust is gone, the relationship you thought you had wasn't real.. he wasn't as invested as you wanted him to be. Remind yourself more often on why it's a blessing he has set you free! Remind yourself you deserve better - you deserve love! What he was offering.. that wasn't love. Don't waste another moment missing his positives when his negatives completely out weigh them.. rose tinted glasses are a strong temptation to leave in place.. but your future and your happiness rely on you tossing those puppy's out. - best of luck to you <3
