Breakups & Divorce Support Group
Just broke up with someone or in the midst of a difficult divorce? Breaking up is difficult no matter what the circumstances are. They say that time heals all wounds, but sometimes a listening ear or a hug can work wonders for the heart. Whether you need a place to vent, someone to hold you to No Contact, or need advice about what to do, we're here to help.
With that said, five things:
1. Be decisive. If you choose divorce, do not leave any door of indecisiveness open. Do not say things like I love you but I am not in love with you. It might sound harsh but a complete, clean break is easiest (if that word can even be used in such an event).
2. prepare your support system to be there for you.
3. prepare yourself financially. you will have to assume that your husband will not give you a cent after you leave (or he leaves) until the court orders him to do so. also, it might be imrpractical to remain working at the same company that he does.
- a divorce costs, in my estimation, a minimum of $3000.
4. Arrange personal counseling for you and your children. A professional can help you navigate through it.
5. Be considerate of your husband. If possible and prudent, warn his support system to ready themselves to be there for him. It will be very hard on him too.
To that I would add to start a new tradition with your kids. Movie night, game night, whatever..and stick to it so they have something consistent to look forward to.
Start an exercise regimen if you don't have one already. It helps tremendously in keeping you feeling energized and better about things.
Clear up any outstanding chores or obligations beforehand so things don't pile up during what can be an emotional time.
I hope this helps. All the best to you.
