Have you ever felt, after going through this whole thing, that you are social inept. Seriously, tonight was supposed to be a blast. It turns out that 3 of the multiple boats from my fleet showed up. On top of that I went to one boat for a pre-party. I left that group to go to the live band.
Here is the mustard. Two boats were anchored up...I drank with them for a while. One of the boats went into the Marina to have dinner and I was supposed to meet them there afterwards for the party. That group was joined by another boat off of my dock that docked at that marina that I didn't know was going to be there.
I left the pre-part to go to the party with the live band. The band wasn't that great (playing old stuff that really didn't catch my attention). The group that was at the party was still inside eating when I left the part at 9.
I should have stayed on the one boat that had the pre-party. When I went back to my boat the pre-party crowd had already crashed! DAMN!
The real killer was that there was no one in the crowd at the party that was my age. There was this huge GAP and I fell right in the bloody middle. There were the 40-50 crowd, the 50+ crowd, and the early 20 crowd. None of the 25-35 crowd around at all.
I look around and see all these happy couples and I am there, by myself, alone, the only one in my age bracket, just wondering what in the holy hell happened to me. Damn this divorce shit. This wasn't supposed to happen to me, or any of us for that matter.

pem is the only thats done my meetups with me so he can testify as how good they are for you (afterall hes made 3 trips here now)and my social soul. he call them his *peeps* now.
now as far the dating and picking up men thing - nope dont have a clue on that one.
twice today dancing..i was dancing with the girls and twice count them twice guys came up and started dancing with me..i panicked both times and ignored them (they were both GORGEUS), so i guess i am socially inept when it comes to picking up men
Imagine walking into a crowd and looking around only to realize that you are the only one in your age group that is single and pretty much the only one in your age group. Then you notice that MOST of the people there are with someone. It sucks! Just plain sucks!
This is so fustrating. It is like the last slap to the face that the ex gets to dig into me.
Hang in there. And for our sake and the sake of so many others, let's hope this gets easier soon.

and i'll also add when i see happy couples i want to lean over and say to one of them (male or female)..you know when they said they were working late 3 nights this week - they lied!!
