Every situation is different yet the same. Process your feelings and let the emotions flow. It's still very hard for me and I am into month 4 in my separation / divorce. Prayers be with you.
The first 2 weeks is very hard though. Don't be ashamed to cry if you feel like it, scream, wail, whatever to build that pent-up emotions. I did all, plus massage once a week to ease the anxiety. Went out with GFs which helped a lot, worked full time even though I could have taken time off. If you are working, taking time off is a big mistake because you'd be home moping, thinking, wishing, doing post-mortem as to where the relationship went wrong, staring at that phone or email (I almost got cross-eyed dong the latter! -LOL!).
I think the quickest way to healing is "no contact" total black-out. Even if it is tempting, try and not break that because you will only hurt more. This site has been really helpful for me. Thanks to everyone who sent hugs and kind words. :)
It is so hard to break something you did every day especially when you weren't the cause of the breakup. What Im going to try and do is set (another) goal. That may help for you. For instance, my ex went away yesterday for a month. Im using this time of no contact. Its already killing me but Im going to stick to it. Let's just hope I can keep strong after Monday. Set a goal of two days, then when that comes go another two then another. Hang in there, we'll get there one day.
With time it will get easier.
So: the worst thing that can happen to you - and at latest this is when you will stop - is that he will reply saying something nasty! Mine did. Since then almost no contact. Almost, because we have kids he comes and visits. I am doing the girl who he left me for a HUGE favor by not bothering him. I don't see him ever either. Just no contact. It feels awful! You feel you want to see him and hug him whatever here and now. It WILL get better. Don't give up. We are here to help. You are already doing a great job!
