i had envisioned myself graduating and getting married. During school if you asked anyone who would be the first to get married it would be me and him. He was friends with all my friends. Between yesterday and today I have heard of 4 ppl close enough to me who r newly engaged. I'm really happy for them. But it can't help but want to loaf in bed and cry my eyes out all day. I literally do not have even 1 single friend. Not 1. I'm 27. Thought I was gonna get proposed to this year. Did everything I possibly could for this guy. We talked about marriage all the time. And bam, everybody but me. I can't help but feel like there must be something wrong with me. And he now has someone else basically right after he broke up. Thought of him marrying this person someday makes me want to cry even more. I just feel so worthless.

You're not worthless. You invested emotional capital in what you had. Hang in there, refocus on the future. You have much to look forward to. Most of us have to reboot our lives multiple times.

Ouch. It's right to be hurting and to grieve your loss. It may be hard to think of now but you have likely been spared from marrying the wrong man. Imagine if he'd found this other person after you'd been married. We all have times of feeling we have no true, close friends. Press on through. You will get through this, find friends, and even find love again. And it will be richer for what you've endured. Hugs.

Getting married because "everyone else is getting married" isn't the best of plans. I did that at age 25 and was divorced at age 31.

Maybe your BF realized that you two weren't meant to be and spared the both of you several years of unhappiness before one of you got the balls to end the relationship.

I would have liked my ex to say "hey, I don't think this is gonna work out long term." and spared us both several years of spinning wheels and playing house in an attempt to make the unworkable work.

By not one single friend I meant not in a relationship. Not that o have no friends. And the way I put it seemed very one sided but funny enough he drove all these plans. So I wasn't just sitting and planning his life as it may have come across

Just because you want to get married doesn't mean you should. Maybe you guys were not right for each other. I married my hs sweetheart last year and he has at least wanted to divorce me 3 times. I keep coming back to him everytime he tells me sorry. I wish sometimes I didn't get married to the man I loved so dearly. It hurts to say but it's true. You do you for now. When the right person comes you'll know.Not being married is sometimes for the better, maybe he wasn't the person you thought he'd be.
