Should I try and contact him?

I know it's over. I ended it, but I do still care about him. We were together a year and a half and we have been broken up for about 6 weeks with very little communication (like I sent him a birthday text and he thanked me with a text. That is the only communication we have had). Well I know he has just had a great disappointment in his life, and I want to send him an encouraging text. Not a "let's get back together text" but more of a "this stone wall we have between us in hugely unnessary" text. Is this a mistake? I don't feel as if I'm regressing or anything but I do care but since we have not spoken, I don't want to drive myself crazy with the possibility of feeling rejected if I don't get a response to my text. I'm so confused and this has been heavy on my mind for a while.

Honestly, I wouldn't do it. Friendship after a breakup rarely works, and usually leads to hurt feelings. I think the birthday text was ok though. I think by trying to open the doors for a possible friendship will just hurt you either now or down the road. I may be wrong though. I'm curious as to what others say about this. Good luck hun.

unless you plan of getting back together with him id cut off the contact completely, just my opinion.

i was with a girl 4 years, she cheated end of story. i havent talked to her in 2 years. i wanted to after we broke up, i loved her, but i knew it was better off not. the more contact the more confusing and weird it will get.

i was guna send her a bday card the first year we were broken up but then decieded against it in thought that she might then try and contact me. which i did not want

its hard to get over things like this but just cut off the contact, unless you 2 are guna try and reconcile. otherwise you are setting urself up for more heartbreak and pain

just my opinion based on past experiences

if you really care, set him completely free since you do not want to be his woman. don't ever contact him again.

I wouldn't, contact usually just gives the other person false hope or hurts them by reminding them of the break up. I think your intentions are good, but I would just hold off on contacting him. Good luck!

For every time you think about contacting him, remember why you ended it to begin with. Like my EX H and I, for example, are in a very comfortable spot right now...but I also know that getting divorced is what helped us to cotinue liking each other. As a coparent and an EX H, he's fantastic...married to him? Not so much, and vice versa. I wasn't a prize to be married to either, so thank god we both got out.
