Should I or shouldnt I?

As many of you know, I found out the man who lent my stbx some money, (I think $74,000.00), is considered a small time loan shark. Here is my problem...I remember signing some papers for this man and saw the amount of $60,000.00. I was shocked and looked at him and said "$60,000.00?!?!?!?!?!?!?"

Well, since I signed the papers can I/should I contact this man and find out exactly HOW much stbx owes him, and if I am responsible? Or should I leave it alone? I am thinking if I find out the exact amount, I can use this against my stbx in court, IF NEEDED.

Please, please advise!!

Leave it alone until the guy says something to you. Just be ready in case he does!

Papers stating my stbx and I borrowed $60K. This man is a nice man, and I dont know if he would care about my sit. He does know about it, this I know. I do have to cover my A**!

Talk to your lawyer about the validity of the document, does you and your husband have a copy of it? If so, you should get one, take it to your lawyer and find out more. Don't ask any questions to the nice 'loanshark' fella....other than, 'can I have a photocopy of it?'

This way, I know what my stbx owes, and I cover my ass at the same time!

I don't know squat...but I suspect being a loan shark is not legal.

so... ask your lawyer..and do some research as to whether this guy is a loan shark or not. Why would a loan shark get you involved and have you sign papers?... or did the STBEx give you the papers?

either way.. if HE is indeed a loan shark, I don't think he can enforce a payment from you, mind you he could break your bones to make his bread. No...that is a giant.

ask the STBEX who the guy is and if you don't want to do that... get your lawyer to ask his lawyer who the guy is...your STBEx has to list all his debts and assets, that might come up in the paperwork.

I dont think you should contact this loan shark.

and for gosh sakes...watch what you sign...all of you....be careful out there. I know we are all having money problems.
