Retaining a lawyer

I was so ready to get this divorce done this weekend but now that I have the lawyer's agreement letter I am pausing at the 3% charge for using credit card.  Is this normal?

Credit card companies charge vendors 3-4% depending on how big they are on all the card transactions the run through. Some companies pass this on to customers, others do not. I assume your lawyer is doing the same.

I don't know if this is a normal practice for Lawyers, however it is common for small businesses.

This is also something to keep in mind if you are making a donation to a charity. The charity gets to keep 3% more of your money when you write them a check. (rather than sending it to Visa/MC)
