The stbx filed for the big D in Aug of 2007, lots of cash down the drain later, we are getting closer to being through. There is no chance of reconciliation. Now, in the past week her lawyer has asked for a legal separation, until the financial ramifications(bankruptcy) are addressed.

WHAT gives, Im to the point that I am paranoid and am wandering what trick is up the STBX's sleeve, any ideas or similar experiences would be appreciated

I don't have any good advice for you regarding this matter, but I want to send you a big hug, and keep it near the top so that others that will have this info can see it. They are probably sleeping now, but will be here in the morning. Hugs, Kimmee

Tossed - I am a California diviorce layer and laws vary from state to state so you should talk to your lawyer.

In California - really limited reasons for a legal separation.One would be keeping spouse on medical insurance ( most employers/insurance companies are wise to this and deny) Another reason would be religion. I can't think of another.

A reason I considered legal separation was because I didn't want his financial issues to fall on my head. Anything he occured once we were separated I didn't want to be responsible for it. When I learned that legal separations were really a waste of money I decided to hold on to my money and just continue with my plans.
