Yes, it's church sponsored. No, you won't be asked to join a church. There is no requirement that you be a church goer or a Christian. It's open to everyone. Truthfully you don't even have to be married. At least one person in my group never made it to the altar.

Thank you, Missy. I can't wait until the next time there's a group near my home. Unfortunately the closest one is over an hour away. I missed the one that was just 15 minutes away. Last session ended 2 weeks ago. I think I need to be there from the very first session right?

You can join at any point during the 13 weeks. You can also sign up multiple times. I've found that the group leaders don't always remember to update the information on the website in a timely fashion so if you know of a place that offered it in the past, you may want to contact them directly.

A 13 week/session divorce care meeting started 2 weeks ago. I contacted them and will be attending my first session on their 3rd session. I hope I didn't miss out too much since I'm joining late. I'm very nervous and quite frankly, hesitant to go, but I know I need it. For those who have gone through this, please give me some advise and share some your experiences. Never would I thought I would ever need this.

I signed up for divorce rebuilding. It's a ten week class In a church. Probably about the same as divorce care. I went to the first meeting, had to skip the second meeting due to plans I made before and now am prepared to go every week. I was very nervous but alter going to the first meeting I immediately felt comforted and understood. I was really hesitant to pay the money but I think it will be worth it and you can also go to the class again for free as many times as needed I believe.
You should go I think you will benefit from it.

You're welcome. If you speak with your leader you can probably borrow or make arrangements to watch the videos from the first two weeks. You can also catch them next session.

The sessions wrap around, so if you started at three, you will eventually wrap around to one and two. The one I just started is at a church a fair distance from me. The priest who moderates it has already mentioned to me that they are thinking of starting a singles group of some sort, though I attend a different church and don't plan to join it. I hope it isn't too much of a hard sell effort as, like you, I just need some support, not pressure.

Well this sucks. Tonight should be my first session with Divorce Care (week 3 for them) and I come down with a very nasty cold and will have to miss it. It's unfortunate as I REALLY need the support right now. Nothing worse than being an emotional wreck and sick at the same time.

I'm sorry to hear that. Often one contributes to the other. I know I went through a decline in health during the worst of the emotional trauma, but thankfully it gets better. I hope you can make it to the next one.

I was planning on making my first Divorces Care visit tonight too. My wife shot it down with her own plans tonight and then follows by saying the kids will notice Dad going out (I never do) as being weirdly different. She then had the gall to say I need to focus less on myself and more on the kids. She is destroying the family security they innocently believe in and I'm the one not thinking of them. Needless to say I'll be home but I do get something from my quality time with them. They are truly blessings for me.
