I dont have specific songs but I sometimes use Pandora and pick songs from a years that bring back good memories. I also do contemporary Christian music. Hope that helps. This may sound crazy but there are times when I listen to love songs for a set amount of time and cry and sit with my feelings and then get up let it go and move on thru my day. I actually feel better after because I confronted those feelings so I am no longer distracted by them. Hope you feel better soon.

Thats A good idea. Ive been turning off the love songs so that I don't cry - maybe I should do what you do and let it all out.

Its worth a try and if it doesn't help cross it off the list. Hopefully you will have a sense of accomplishment that you are actively trying new things to heal.

I think this is a GREAT idea. I find that music can change my mood faster than almost anything.

I hear you on the love songs and there's so MANY of them, isn't there? I also stay away from songs that, while being happy, remind me too much of the past.

Is there a particular type of music you like? And (you don't need to answer this :) ), how old are you? I'm 58 so a lot of the songs I'm going to recommend are OLD and may not appeal to you.

I'm a fan of rock, jazz, pop and classical. There are lots of Beatles songs, particularly the earlier ones, that have a kind of bouncy feel to them without any heavy message. I also find that a lot of classic R&B is upbeat and makes me feel like dancing. This is a newer one but makes me feel great (and the video is really fun to watch):

Earth, Wind and Fire did a couple of great ones: "Shining Star" and "September" are two that are really upbeat.

As for jazz, heading back to Benny Goodman. This is a love song but it's instrumental, so if you don't know the words, you're good:

There is another Benny Goodman, called "Stealin' Apples" which is really swinging and upbeat.

When I was going through my divorce I found myself going back to the music I grew up on (I'm a child of the 80's). Even the love songs reminded me of a simplier time and since I didn't know my ex back then none of the songs reminded me of him.
