If you can speak to the core of who they are, and what drives them, you get the purest part of them.

I totally understand especially when you've think you've held it so well together over the years because of that one special person. All of the sudden they want out and you become lost.

The mystery that connects 2 people and keeps them together is fascinating. What John Doe and Jane Doe and not Peter and Mary? Or John Doe and Mary? Or Peter and Jane Doe?

And why they love each other so deeply, understand each other so well, and then find themselves "growing apart"?

Why or how do people grow apart? If you are committed to someone.. how does a couple "grow apart"?

Growing apart is a term used when the desire to remain together is no longer there...

Lack of communication is how people grow apart. I thought I had great communication with my wife but she said she was not feeling it for the past two years. That is a bunch of crap in my book I would know if she faked it for that long.

than who we were as individuals when we were 18

I agree with John....my own relationship was and is lacking in communication, and it has caused most of our problems....

I think you "grow apart" because of a lack of commitment....you're tight or you're not, you're there or you're not, you're in or you're not.

You asking me? Absolutely in my case. We had a really nice 17 years together, brought a great little spirit into the world thats growing into a cool young man, and we still love each other, which astounds me actually. There is some kind of loving bond that's lasting longer than I had thought was possible.

I love that guy, he is very special to me.

Some couples are meant to be together, but now I find that maybe not for the rest of their lives...

That drive - what is important to someone- is what determines our actions, and it's incredibly important as far as whether a couple stays together or not... I have thought about that, too.

Some people derive their happiness from making themselves happy, some derive happiness from making others happy. That is my current theory, anyway.. it is very difficult to have a loving relationship with someone who is looking for their own happiness, as the highest priority.
