Just broke up with someone or in the midst of a difficult divorce? Breaking up is difficult no matter what the circumstances are. I had an evening that I thought was rather interesting. Tonight, after leaving my evening job, I stopped at the gas station for gas.
As the pump was dispensing my gas into my car, a guy filling up in front of my car asked me whether or not heading northbound, will get slower paced, from his pass through Washington, DC.
I told him that this is a hectic area, and that it gets slower, the more north you travel on I-95, but before you hit the Philly area. He was traveling from Florida to Pennsylvania to live with his sister. He had Georgia tags, yet was a former Navy diver, who just finished with a contracting job cleaning up the oil spill in the Gulf Coast of Mexico.
Then he asked me about tolls and wondered if he had enough money. I told him that I thought so, even though he was showing me a handful of change. Anyway, he pointed to his Ford pickup truck and noted all the stuff in the back..it was his whole life. He then asked me something, which prompted me to write this post...
He asked if I would give him encouragement, due to the fact that he and his wife are going to divorce and he is giving her everything. His kids are around 19 and his wife is taking them back to Panama. He said he served there and met his wife.
He then just told me to say something positive for encouragement during this process of divorce and moving, that he is going through. I told him to keep his chin up, thanked him for his service and told him that he is doing an admirable thing, by making the divorce a smooth transition. He shook my hand and told me that it helped him hearing what I had to say...
So, do I have a sign on my back that says "I talk to people about divorce and provide them support?"
