Catch the cats with a humane trap and take them across town.

There are too many and even if I could trap these, the food is outside and more will come.

I dont know if they have something that keeps the cats away like they do for deer.

Remove any bird or squirrel feeders from your garden for awhile, because these animals attract cats, and cats are notorious for killing songbirds.

Discourage cats from climbing over fences by nailing 2-inch PVC piping along the top edge of the fence. Cats cant grip the slippery PVC, and this size pipe is wide enough to create an overhang thats hard for them to climb over.

Nail sheets of tinfoil along the top edge of the fence. Cats dislike the feeling of tinfoil under their feet, and the reflections on the foil scares many cats.

Make flags by taping strips of tinfoil to the tops of toothpicks or garden stakes and stick them into the soil around your garden. This has the effect of scaring cats because of the moving reflections, and it is also an effective deterrent against birds that eat seeds, berries and newly planted starts.

Place ribbed plastic water bottles full of water around your garden, doorway or other places where cats spray or defecate. This also creates moving reflections that scare cats away.

Sprinkle coffee grounds and/or ground-up citrus peels around the areas cats like to go. These all have smells cats dont like but which arent too offensive for people. Be sure to renew whatever scented material you use every few days so it smells strong enough to keep the cats away.

Buy some motion-controlled sprinklers if the cheap, natural methods above are ineffective. Cats hate getting squirted with water. Move the sprinklers around regularly so the cats cant learn to avoid them.

I am not sure that letting cats roam in the neighbors yard is legal anymore. If it isn't in your town, perhaps pursue that (take pictures/ vidoes), but I realize these are older ladies you are dealing with...maybe not worth the hassel... I probably would leave it alone, deal....

They look like a good solution. I hope it works just fine. it will hard to remove them and will help somehow - at least it will smell better.

put down moth balls. or put chicken wire laid flat just under a layer of mulch. nothing is foolproof to animals though.

also, consult your local state extension service they will be helpful.

Today I tried the coffee ground. It rained all day and the smell of coffee is strong right now. So far the area is clean, but just like faithful said, nothing is foolproof to animals.

I will get the moth balls and alternate with the coffee ground in case the coffee only works for a few days. Who knows? Maybe I will be lucky and win due to perseverance :)

Seriously - Red Pepper. Sprinkle it all over the place. Don't be shy with it.

There is a spray that is called Kritter Away, you should be able to find it at any home store... it is non toxic and can be sprayed on the flowers.

I used to put good old fashioned Moth Balls in the mulch, but those things are toxic if an animal eats them.

Faithful had the best Idea, contact the local Extension Agent, he can tell you what is best to use in your area.
