The Kepler telescope has found a planet 600 light years distant and 2.4 times the diamter of Earth orbiting in the habital zone of a star similar to our Sun , but slightly cooler. The planet has an orbital period of 290 days and an estimated surface tempreature of 72 F. However they've yet to determine the planet's mass so they don't know whether it's rocky or gaseous. My bet is it's rocky.

207 are near Earth size
680 are super-Earth size
1,181 are Neptune size
203 are Jupiter size
55 are larger than Jupiter
Kepler 22b falls into the super-Earth size category.
Just think of the possibilities! If there's intelligent life that expands the dating pool! Wonder if they'll be on POF? Only problem would be the 1200 year turnaround on responses to emails & IMs...

Well within comfort range for life as we know it. It is closer to its sun, but its sun is cooler than ours. The question is whether Kepler is "juicy." If it is as moist as ours chances for our style life are good.
The bad news is, like here, it is thought that there is no man on Kepler who is good enough either. Sorry ladies.
