One of the best thing to come of this divorce is the freedom to go home. While married I was damned to visit my family, and got a severer ass chewing before going and after returning. Well that is behind me and I am going home to care for my 90 year old mother..... She lives in he country, by herself, and now she needs my help. I am honored to be there for her, she had taken care of me once upon a time now I get to repay the debt. We get along fabulously and I know she will enjoy the company. I may not be on as much but I am still around......

was alienated from my parents and sister. in another month or so I should be moving into my 5 & 6 mile away condo from my dad and sister.

25 years trying to get out of that place. Home is just 1500 or so miles south of where it used to be.

You can take the boy out of the home but not the home from the boy.

I guess I'll find out if you can't go home.

My parents lived on another continent so it was always hard for me to visit. He never made an effort to get to know them either. The next man in my life will have to accept my family.

I am moving there, it will add over 60 miles a day to my commute to work but I am making 2-3 trips there a week now so it will not be that much more driving and both of us will have a little more peace of mind..... for 90 she still rocks...a little deaf.... a little confused but still makes good decisions...... I hope to be so lucky at 90..... the main thing is the hearing when someone calls and she doesn't understand them she gets frustrated.

I'm jealous. I'd give anything to be close to my family right now. I miss them so much and have always relied on them. And now I'm stuck 1200 miles away from them because I was in love.

How lucky for you to have such a great Mom. How fortunate for your Mom to have an awesome son.

How wonderful that you can do this, Mr. Cat. I miss my mom everyday and was blessed that she lived so close and that I was able to spend time with her throught my adult life.. Being chewed out for wanting to see your family? Egad, that is beyond me.

I'm sure your mother is very happy that you decided to move back home. Especially in her golden years. Keep a positive outlook on life and who knows, maybe you will be able to transfer your job to that area. Take care, dear friend.

But in all honesty, I did this.

1. His brother was a notorious drug dealer.
2. His mother was a racist
3. My siblings were nuts and their children also.

You can only lend money, bail people out, be a mediator for so long before that toxicity wears on your relationship.

I had to protect my children, my home, my money.

30 years later - we rarely have contact with either family. Both sides have gone straight to the dumper.
