We are both 42
35 years of knowing him - classmates, friends, neighbors ( since we were 7)
I fell in love with him when i was 19 (never told him) , he says the same.
We married different people 12 years back...had bad marriages
Both separated about 8 years back, he did not get a formal divorce, I did
He had 2 kids (10 & 8 - younger was born after he separated)
15 years of being best friend
7 years of a committed relationship
4 months of breakup, he broke up when his wife sent the kids to live with him (he told me he could not handle our relationship).
Yesterday he told me his wife was moving in with him in 1-2 weeks because he cannot live without the kids !
I knew this was coming ever since she sent the kids to live with him ....
feel completely Numb !

But I am a little confused--did she even know you existed? I find it funny that he broke up with you as soon as the kids came to live with him. He couldn't handle the relationship yet he had been "handling" it well for seven years?! I think there is something very screwy with his reasoning.
Still, I know you are hurting and I am very sorry. Sending healing hugs. Gather around friends and family who will be supportive.
I would also recommend you post on the regular BU/D board--it gets more traffic, thus you'll get more support.
