Breakups & Divorce Support Group
Just broke up with someone or in the midst of a difficult divorce? Breaking up is difficult no matter what the circumstances are. They say that time heals all wounds, but sometimes a listening ear or a hug can work wonders for the heart. Whether you need a place to vent, someone to hold you to No Contact, or need advice about what to do, we're here to help.
However, you are both more than friends. You are husband and wife. He made a huge decision, based on criteria only he knows...but wants to continue calling you, so that you can be his friend. How thoughtful.
Whatever he's going through, I don't think you're doing him any favors by allowing him to treat you as a friend when he's wounded you so deeply. I'd suggest that if he wants to converse with you, you recommend any further interactions be limited to email - especially about the house. That way, he doesn't have to call you repeatedly, he can get what he wants across in writing. As far as the calls, where he wants to just "say hello"...let him know that you are hurt, you're confused, and you're dealing with a lot of pain, anger, etc. You're dealing with facing life without him, and you're not sure if or when you'll feel comfortable being friends with him. He just sucker-punched you, and he wants to talk about the weather? He may be second-guessing his decision, but while he thinks he'll still have you available to "say hello", he's probably thinking he did what's best.
