Well, my friends, I did it! I finally did it!

I went to my lawyers today and 1: filed for bankruptcy. Not a great thing, but a good thing in my situation. And 2: started the divorce! I will soon be free of that man! I cant wait! I actually had enough money left over from my taxes to do something about this situation. For a person who just spent x amount of money, I sure feel great!!!

My lawyer and I discussed child support, alimony, and custody. We are going for it all, knowing he will not give it all. Its like selling a car, ask for 5 grand when you know you will only get 3.

But, I feel so good about this. He cannot bullyl me any more! I am no longer under his power! Sure, he can call me every name in the book now. What the hell do I care? Im not his wife any more!!!!! Na ne na ne boo boo!

BTW, I do not want him not to see his kids. If I get sole custody, I will be the bigger person and he will get visitation. I do want him to be a part of our kids lives. I dont like it, but I should be thankful he wants to right now. I have to let my children grow up and make their own decisions about their dad.

my divorce was final this AM, and I kept thinking that the BEST part of it was ... it's signed and legal, he can NO longer (easily) change his mind about all the details, my finances are seperate and will be much better off this way. He can't manipulate me, and hold this "almost deal" over my head, getting me to give in and give in some more!

i'm so proud of you and so happy for you. it's great to see how much we have grown since we started new lives. i thought i would never get over it, but i did, you have strength beyond belief. you are pulling together your life and making it wonderful for you and your kids. and your right, i let my own kids develop their own relationships with their father. i don't need to tell them anything about him. they are learning on their own. i sit back and laugh, of course by myself, they don't need to see that. the man will never change. this break-up, at least it was not the childrens father so it was a lot easier for them to be really supportive for me. i'm so proud of the way my children have grown up, and their father had nothing to do with it. they are wonderful adults.
