Breakups & Divorce Support Group
Just broke up with someone or in the midst of a difficult divorce? Breaking up is difficult no matter what the circumstances are. They say that time heals all wounds, but sometimes a listening ear or a hug can work wonders for the heart. Whether you need a place to vent, someone to hold you to No Contact, or need advice about what to do, we're here to help.
You've got to pull yourself out of this depression ASAP. Some ideas that have helped me are:
--You said you don't normally reach out. Well, it's time to figure out how to do that in a way that works for you. I'm intensely private, so it was hard for me too. If you can't get yourself into see a therapist face to face (which I think is truly the most helpful), try online counseling from a place like Betterhelp.
--Keep coming to this Daily Strength site for support.
--Call a friend (who is not a friend of your ex) and go out to coffee. Vent, cry, do whatever you need to do to process your feelings.
--Make yourself a playlist of songs focused on being strong and play it everyday. Eye of the Tiger, Stronger, Fight song, etc.
-Exercise like crazy! It reduces stress.
--Try to be the best parent you can whenever you talk to or see your kids. Send them positive text messages, tell them you love them, etc.
--Journal. Writing about your feelings gets them out of your mind and onto paper....or the computer.
--This is super difficult, but take the high road. Don't talk negatively to mutual friends (people who know both you and your ex) about your ex. If you're like me, you might just have to tell them that you can't talk about it right now....
--Stay away from all negative habits--especially drinking and drugs, but also limit or eliminate the smoking.
--Start new hobbies---anything to keep busy and keep your mind off of your ex and the negativity.
