Breakups & Divorce Support Group
Just broke up with someone or in the midst of a difficult divorce? Breaking up is difficult no matter what the circumstances are. They say that time heals all wounds, but sometimes a listening ear or a hug can work wonders for the heart. Whether you need a place to vent, someone to hold you to No Contact, or need advice about what to do, we're here to help.
The fact that you have been together since you were 18, it is not surprising that you are finding as you have grown and matured that you dont fit together as well as you once did. That is normal.
You should get a support group in place to help you to move on. People that you can rely on to help you when your emotions get the best of you.
Knowing now that it is time to move on is better than finding out after you have been married and have kids. Recognizing this now is a good thing. Be proud of your judgement, and trust it. Many times in the future you will question it.
You may want to consider going to see a therapist. They can provide you with coping skills, and also help you find ways to improve yourself and uncover what it is that you desire in a mate.
Finally, Were all here to help support each other. Feel free to stop in and ask questions or once you make the final decision to move on, feel free to reach out to us for support. Good luck.
That's great that you are seeking support for this stage of your life. I too was in the same situation as you at one time and at the exact same ages and we lived together. Being such an important relationship and when you're starting out in life can be hard to leave, especially if as you mention, you don't have a lot of other support around you (you depend on that person for it). So it's great that you're reaching out.
Anonymous had some great advice...follow your judgement (and gut), create a supportive network of people you can turn to through this transition and even talk to a counsellor if you can...all great steps to take. At the very least trust your instincts and get supportive people around you (and like you mentioned in your post "non-judgemental"). Communicating here is a great start because there are always people to give advice and share their experiences that may be similar to yours, and to make friends with.
All the best.
