I want to say it gets easier...I was doing great until he told me the news. Now it's like it is just starting all over again. I don't want him back, but still feeling emotions are just out of control from one extreme to another.
I try to read a lot of self help books, watch funny movies, anything I can do to stay busy. Busy gives me less time to think about it all.
Wish you the best!
I too have been in a great relationship with a great guy for about 2 years, without him I would have run back to my ex -- just as we always did. But I question often if it was too soon, I can't imagine giving up this relationship, however I feel if he finds out how I am feeling about my ex and his new relationship my guy will bail on me.
Divorce stinks!!
I know right now, I am dealing with my ex just telling me he has a girl friend he met on line 2 months ago and now they want to live together...I am an emotional wreck. So I get maybe her trying to control you now is because she has lost control since you have moved on. And she has not.
Her feeling of not really being able to control you...has made her go extreme on what she can control. Having you question a relationship that makes you happy to try an calm her down is not good either.
So I divorced him 3 years ago...I waited about a year, dated my current boyfriend for about a year never told his kids or mine, we just said we were friends, we would all do things together, theme parks, movies, dinners, cookouts, holidays etc. and last year we told the kids we are dating, they all being teenagers...were not surprised, but we never told my ex.
Now I have been happy, my kids have been happy, -- life has not been perfect, my ex has only been sober 18 months, so he has had issues during this time. But now he has a girlfriend...he wants to move in with, and I am feeling like I want to control the situation, I don't want the kids to know about his girlfriend, I have fears, that my kids will like her more than me, that I don't know I just don't want another woman in my kids life, I don't want another woman in the middle of my ex and me.
So I think even though I have moved on, I am super happy with this guy...but loosing control of the situation is HARD!!!
Maybe your future ex is feeling some of these things. She has to accept the things she can't control, which is now you.
I can only suggest you try to talk with her, acknowledge her feelings, and try to encourage a new type of relationship with her moving forward.
I am trying to navigate my own way because I am loosing my cool so much with my ex over this woman...I have been sending text messages and just acting like an ass...I am trying to focus on what I would like my relationship to be moving forward, I don't want to meet his new flame, I hope I never meet her...that will change I am sure, but right now he is saying he will be respectful of that.
Maybe you hearing how crazy I am feeling you can understand a different side of it, it's wrong, my behavior is wrong, I want to make it better...my ex and I have been fighting, getting along, up and down for that past few weeks, I have been crying to him, and just on an emotional roller coaster. However this time he is trying to understand my side, he is trying to work with me with all my questions that are none of my business, but having him talk to me it is helping. I don't want to go back to him, I would be crazy to not want a future with my new (2+ year guy -- he is amazing) I just need to work through the past, and at this moment as crazy as it sounds, my ex is the one to help me.
I don't know if you are able to talk with her, I don't know if it will help, but her trying to control you any way she can -- she is afraid of loosing control. Maybe there is a way you can become "friend" for your kids, and find a new way to have a different relationship -- just a thought.
Divorce is horrible!!! Each couple has to find a way that works for them...
