I am glad that you enjoyed it. I had really wanted to go, but couldn't find one locally that worked around my screwy work schedule.

I've been to two meetings. If you think your first one was the wrong one, I came in on "Single Sexuality" night (meeting 10)! LOL! But, like you, I think the group is a good thing. I also find the videos and the workbook very helpful in sorting out thoughts and emotions.

I just started Divorcecare three Wednesdays ago. And I have been the only one there. I don't know if they didn't advertise it or if no one in my town is getting divorce (ha,ha) or what. But it is still pretty helpful. I've pretty much got the one on one attention from the group leaders. So even though it is not really a group, I like it so far.

The book tho is really good!! I hear a lot of people take it a couple times at different stages of their divorce. Maybe you can do that!

I have meeting 4 tonight. I waited until the start of a new group, so I wouldn't start with the relationship or sex stuff. Wait a minute, maybe I should have started sooner. damn.

I really enjoy it. It's good to put a face with the story and sharing of pain.

I looked into it but theres not one in my area. I think I would have really enjoyed it too. The rest of you will have to share your wisdom :)

Tonight is my last night of the secong go around on the DivorceCare Support Group. The people that run it are wonderful and the group members keep you open and talking. At this point i would like to find a group about self growth or something just to keep me going. There just is not enough out there in my opinion.

Thanks for sharing your experiences, everyone. I plan to start attending a DivorceCare group in my area soon. It sounds like a good resource.

I'm in DivorceCare as well. We are on week ten tonight. I've been in since the beginning and it really really has helped. Great group of people as well. We actually all meet outside of the group for dinner or lunch to talk as well. Sometimes you just need that fellowship to be able to cry about whats going on and vent and thats what we are there for :)

You all are making me jealous! There isn't one close enough for me to go! :-(

What is divorcecare? Is it mandatiry? Does California have this?

IndigoSunshine-Go to www.divorcecare.org to find out about it. It's all over the country. It's not mandatory at all! It meets in churches and is designed to help you heal.

I just went to the 6th meeting here in So. Okla. last night (Wed.) I've only been divorced right over 5 mos. So far so good at the meetings and everyones situation is very different. I hope it will help me soon. Brenda

Like Ami suggested, I am going to take the DivorceCare course for the second time. I did it last yaer right after my ex left. I was in total denial and he was not sure at the time if he wanted a divorce, or at least that is what he said. I look forward to getting back in a year later to see what I can learn and what I have to offer. This time I am open and willing to make friends and get any support I can get. Glad you liked it. I think it is easiest to start at the beginning of session. It makes more sense.

It made me open my eyes last night even though it's a bit off track at the stage I'm in.

When I got back to our house to relieve my stbxh, he was asking me questions about it and was glad for me that I went. He was genuinely curious! Wow, that's a first in a long time!

Also, today was a great breakthrough for me after watching the video and talking with everyone there.

I opened up to him today and told him how much anger and resentment I have toward him and how I have to continuously repress it to remain amicable for our daughter and for my healing.

He was even open to that and let me get it out and explain. I actually got a "for all that I am sorry. If I could take it all back I would. You deserve better and will find someone better."

Well, that was his first step to accountability that I never got before. I could take it or leave it... at least I got out what I needed to.

I'm looking forward to the next meeting about kids going through the divorce. I'm going a bit out of order, but at least I have a place to go.
