Breakups & Divorce Support Group
Just broke up with someone or in the midst of a difficult divorce? Breaking up is difficult no matter what the circumstances are. They say that time heals all wounds, but sometimes a listening ear or a hug can work wonders for the heart. Whether you need a place to vent, someone to hold you to No Contact, or need advice about what to do, we're here to help.
Mom and Dad just can't be together. We think you're the best, and both want to make sure your life is good, and will work together to make sure that happens.
I don't know what your circumstances are but I also had to repeat over and over to my oldest, because she felt responsible about the break-up, that she did nothing wrong. Over and over, they can't hear it enough.
You know your child so stick with your instincts.

Well, it's so obvious you love your son and want to do whatever you can to make this time easier on him. And, it's certainly hard to know how to explain a divorce or a separation to a child. So, you might want to look into talking with a counselor about this situation. Perhaps even seeing if your son could meet with someone one-on-one? I know this seems like a big step to take, but it may make a big difference in how he processes this situation. Lastly, have you picked up any resouces on helping children deal with divorce/separation? I know there's a lot of great material out there on this topic. In fact, while working at Focus on the Family I've often heard the counselors there recommend the books, Helping Children Survive Divorce by Dr. Archibald D. Hart and What Children Need to Know When Parents Get Divorced by William Coleman. So, I wondered if you may want to see if you can get a hold of these or similar items. Just a thought. Well, I'm sure you're dealing with a lot on your own as well, so know that I'm praying for you and your son!
Kids deserve honesty, it just depends on their age how much info you give them. Like the other person said...you would be surprised how much they already know. Never put the other parent down, now matter how hard it is because in the childs eyes it reflects onto them because they are a part of the other parent.
Kids are resilient.....as long as we love them!
