I know this really sucks when one person does this to another.
Talk to your lawyer for some advice. Not sure what can be done, but I wish you well.
I don't speak to the X, haven't seen him / heard from him in 2 months, I am okay with that. Frankly, I prefer it!
The bill in question was 'our' bill. Since I carried on with service, under a new bill, they automatically carried over the charge when they found out that he doesn't have another bill. It's really screwy.
I am so mad about this - I haven't been this upset in a few months - I just wish it would all go away and I don't have to think about him ever again.
And consulting a lawyer, would probably cost me more than it is worth!
If this is a one time bill, ask him to pay 50%. If he refuses, seek legal counsel to determine if he is truly on the hook. Make sure your named does not appear on any accounts you do not want to pay.
To protect yourself financially, you typically have to do a separation of assets, debts, bills, etc. as if you are divorced. I can't see any other way for it to work unless you have written up a contract between you agreeing to what each person is financially responsible for.
