I'm having an extremely rough time trying to get over the love of my life. It's been 4 months since he left and I still miss him so much day in and day out. I've been trying to keep busy and focus on work, and to try to keep my focus on just the present moment...but it's been difficult. I feel so helpless...:( I'm so tempted to reach out all the time but I know I can't as I will just end up getting hurt as I will just be ignored again. And more importantly, I have promised to give him his space and I need to keep my promise.

I envy your strength in following the no contact promise. I keep promising myself that I will not contact my husband but I can't seem to make it more than 3-4 days and I cave in. The difference is that my husband answers and talks to me. Sometimes he says he misses me and he has even told me he loves me a few times. But the end result is that he isn't coming home and its still rejection and its painful. How many times do I need to be slapped in the face?!! You continue to be strong! Likely the contact will leave you feeling sad as it has with me. Best wishes to you.

I get how youre feeling, my ex recently contacted me, only to ignore me again. that hurt i wish i was strong but i find myself caving in. its been 8 months and its still as hard as the first month, it had gotten easier, i keep busy with work, working out, volunteering but my thoughts always steer me to him. letting go of what is out of our control, slowly i mean slowly gets better.

Thank you all. I have actually caved in and reached out so many times already....and every time I do it I feel like a failure. I try to take comfort in knowing that even though we can't be together, he has promised that he will always love me. But then all sorts of doubts surface when my heartfelt messages are all met with silence. I also try to remind myself why he has to do this and that it can't be easy for him either, in order to give myself strength...but it's been incredibly difficult. I will keep trying.

@sleepless1, yes, it was very difficult when he was responding to me and telling me things that I love to hear. But eventually it got to a point where he decided one of us will have to cut things off...and he's been sticking with it. It hurts so much that he is able to ignore me the way he has been. It makes me question everything that he had once told me...:(
