Met with my attorney today. What a depressing appointment. I guess all things went fairly smooth all things considered. She said the best way for us to file is a joint petition for " irretrievable breakdogwn of marriage." We aren't trying to split assets and we (despite what people are telling me I should do) are not trying to share responsibility of debt ( that had been accrued all under my name.) I don't see the point, he'll never pay it and I don't want to pay more in attorney fees to try and get the money that I will never get. My attorney is going to draft all the paper work send it to him and then he is responsible for filling out his portion of the paperwork and sending it back. That's it, and then he just needs to show up to the court date. Oh boy, can't wait to hear the excuses of why that takes too long to fill it all out, why he can't show up to court. I asked how long and how much this is all going to take. She said he he agrees to everything it would t take too long or be too expensive. She said If he doesn't fill out his paper work that is where the hold up might be. I am very sad about the divorce. He is the one who asked for it, without any real notice of his extreme u happiness or ultimate reason. It was all very surprising. It's only been 7 weeks, but then has been " too busy" to file so I said the heck with it. He isn't having a change of heart so why stay married. The hard part is I need to make sure he agrees with everything written on the separation agreement. Under reason I wanted to say " I have no idea why he wants a divorce you should ask him. He should be the one filing here, dealing with the like an adult instead of making me STILL a deal with all responsibility even though we aren't together anymore. " Instead I put fundamental differences with future relational expectations, disagreements and lack of communication. He is being a child about this saying he will probably not get a lawyer. I told my attorney that and she said that she couldn't give legal counsel to him but could assist in his portion of the paperwork. I just can't be married to someone who doesn't even speak or care about me anymore, and I'm still having to be the adult and get things done. I texted him asking if he had 5 minutes to talk so I could tell him what to get together  so the financial statements would be easier to fill out once he gets all the paperwork. His response " got too busy" SERIOUSLY?!? He needed the separation, he needed me out of his life, our apartment And I got that dropped on me life a bomb.  Then he was "too busy" to file for divorce. I don't think I could make it any easier on him, and am the one paying for the filing and attorney fees here he is STILL TOO BUSY. This entire day has been extremely emotionally exhausting and frustrating.
