Like me - I freaked the hell out and said lots of things I probably shouldn't have.
How long have you been separated? Is there a rush on filing for divorce?
We have been separated since December 12th. He filed for divorce January 12th. :(
We have had some big ups and downs in our marriage with him leaving me many, many times. He doesn't handle stress well at all and it's easier for him to just run when things get hard. We've both been through a lot...he's a burn survivor and has dealt with people staring his entire life, and I was severely physically abused in my first marriage, then lost the love of my life who passed away at just 46 when we planned on marrying. I think past hurts and stress can ALL be worked through, but he has to be willing to. :( I think underneath his anger is a feeling of not knowing how to get through this.
You as well, don't need a husband who is leaving when he feels like it at the drop of the hat, and then coming back. Makes you wonder if he takes it seriously?
How have you been reacting to him lately? Meaning are you crying to him and making all the effort right now? He did after all file for divorce, and that is not something to mess with. If you feel like you are the only one trying, maybe back off a bit, especially at your meeting tonight. Give him something to really think about. I made the mistake of giving my ex husband all the power (emotionally) when we split and if I had a second chance, I would have done things differently.
Okay, well based on your response, it's time to put your big girl panties on and go to this meeting with your head held high. You can do it! Don't settle and maybe he needs to know that while you do love him and are willing to do whatever to save your marriage, that at the same time he cannot string you along. You want answers and "I don't know what I want" is not acceptable. Don't be defensive, listen like you said and soak it all in.
Let me know how it goes later! Good luck XOXO
